FAQ

HOW DO DEPOSITS WORK?

Deposits are $100 (plus a $3 charge for 3rd-party merchant services fees). Puppies are NOT held without a deposit. The $100 deposit comes off the price of the puppy, and the full remaining balance is due at pick up and before delivery. Deposits are non-refundable. If for some reason the buyer does not want the puppy on which the deposit was put down, the buyer may switch the deposit to another puppy of the buyer’s choice, provided that the next choice of puppy is still available.

WHAT SHIPPING OPTIONS DO YOU PROVIDE?

Air Shipping is available to most locations. Please ask if we ship to your location (some states have restrictions, and we do not ship overseas). The buyer assumes all costs associated with shipping.

Shipping by air typically costs $350 to $500 (depending on the breeder) and this service includes a health certificate from a veterinarian, an air-certified travel crate, transportation to the airport, and the airline ticket. Prices may vary depending on location, as well as the puppy’s weight and height (and, in some cases, breed).

We always do our best to ship the puppy as soon as possible; however, occurrences such as inclement weather and setbacks to the puppy’s physical health may delay shipping until it can be done safely. If we are shipping to hot climate state than the buyer can expect changes in price and shipping dates.

We also offer Door-to-Door delivery by vehicle to many locations (when it would be a more economical alternative to air shipping) Prices are charged per mile and fees (such as toll roads) incurred during the journey.

HOW DO I USE THE CHECKOUT TO MAKE MY DEPOSIT?

Putting a deposit down is easy; just look through the puppies on Ohio Valley Puppies.

We have puppies on our Home page (Featured Puppies) and on our Shop page up at the top right of the navigation bar.

Then, when you have found the right puppy, just click on the red Add to Cart button.

This button will proceed to check out.

The price you see at the checkout page is the $100 deposit (plus the $3 the processing fee).

The deposit ensures that nobody else can buy that puppy. Once we get notified that a puppy has deposit on it, the puppy pup will be removed from the website.

The full balance of the puppy is to be paid to the breeder at the time you pick up the puppy or before delivery.

The full balance due is the full price minus the $100 deposit.

For example, if you are buying a puppy for the full price of $450 and you put a $100 deposit down, you will owe the breeder the remaining balance of $350 at pick up.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO THE BREEDERS ACCEPT?

Please, always ask the breeder when he or she calls you what payment type he or she accepts when paying the remaining balance at the time of pickup or before delivery.

All breeders will accept cash.

Not all breeders will accept Postal Money Order, PayPal, Bank Transfer funds, Western Union & Personal Check.

Breeders will not accept weekly or monthly payments for balances. Balances owed on pups must always be paid in full at the time of pick up or before delivery.

If you send a check or money order, you will have to wait for the check or money order to clear the breeder’s bank account before receiving your puppy

DO ALL OF THE PUPPIES ON YOUR WEBSITE COME FROM ONE LARGE KENNEL?

Absolutely not!  Ohio Valley Puppies provides advertising for many breeders in the geographic Ohio Valley Region.  We provide an online venue for breeders/sellers to advertise their puppies (we are not a dog broker, either).

WHY DO SOME OF YOUR BREEDERS REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

In today’s world of online commerce, many buyers believe that prices are always negotiable, so some sellers will make their prices higher than what they realistically want in order to leave room for the buyer to haggle. Deposits, on the other hand, eliminate haggling and enable the breeders to advertise their puppies at their lowest prices, without the need to leave room for bargaining.

OTHER FAQS

If there is a health guarantee, genetic guarantee, or if the pup has been vet checked, it will be stated in the description of the puppy. Not all breeders will offer health guarantees or genetic guarantees, and not all breeders will have the puppy vet checked (some breeders provide their own shots, worming and health inspections). Please read each description carefully.

If you need a pup held for more than 3 days before pick up, please call us before putting down a deposit. We need to talk to the breeder about arrangements.

When you get your new puppy, the buyer should get the puppy to his or her own vet for a checkup. If there is any issue please always contact the breeder from whom you bought the puppy.

Please make sure your puppy eats small amounts of food 3 to 4 times a day to prevent low blood sure (you do not want your puppy to gorge itself, as this can cause bloating and other stomach issues), and make sure your puppy gets plenty of good, clean water throughout the day to prevent dehydration, which can cause illness or even death.

Remember to write down and keep the breeder’s contact info and address to contact them if any issues should arise with your new puppy.

Ohio Valley Puppies is NOT responsible for any issues that may occur with the puppy. You will need to contact the breeder from whom you bought the puppy. Thanks!  ohiovalleypuppies.com
